Driving Directions From Anchorage:
Approximately 130 miles (2 hours) south of Anchorage on the Sterling Highway. As you enter Soldotna, turn right on the Spur Highway (at the light) and go apporximately 3 miles to 'Big Eddy Road'. Turn left, and go approximately 2 miles and turn right at the sign that says 'Salmon Acres'. Follow this road for approximately 1 mile and turn left at the 'Fish Magnet / Joe Hanes' sign (if you go too far, the road ends at the river....just back up 2 cabins)

Driving Directions From Kenai:
Drive south on Spur Highway 11 miles to Soldotna. Turn Right on 'Big Eddy Road' and go approximately 2 miles and turn right at the sign that says 'Salmon Acres'. Follow this road for approximately 1 mile and turn left at the 'Fish Magnet / Joe Hanes' sign (if you go too far, the road ends at the river....just back up 2 cabins)

Our season begins in the middle of May with sharp tugs on our eight foot graphite rods. On the line, a bright trophy-size Kenai king. The action continues through June with fish up to 70lbs.

In July, the heavy duty rod bending begins with the average king weighing 40-60 lbs. Occasionally, a 70-80 lb. hog is landed.

Toward the end of July, while we are all chasing the world class kings, occasionally the rod will slam toward the gunnel, and a fresh coho will rocket out of the water. This signals the start of the Silver Salmon run which will last through September ending with 16-18 lb. cohos gobbling up your fresh roe. Once again, we have an extra treat - trophy class rainbow trout weighing up to 15 lbs.
